Can children attend Relay For Life?
Relay for Life is a family event, so children are welcome and encouraged to attend. Two adults must supervise and chaperone any teams of those under 18 years of age. All children who pay the $10 registration fee will receive a t-shirt and are encouraged to raise money as a team member.
How can I make an online donation to a team, a participant or
make a general donation?
Visit our New
Southern Saratoga County Relay for Life Donation website.
What happens if it's raining?
Relay for Life goes on rain, hail or shine, so dress appropriately! There
is usually some shelter at the track, but bring appropriate wet weather
gear just in case! And remember why we are here: no matter how tough walking
all night in the rain can be, rest assured that it's an easier task than
undergoing treatment for cancer.
Do we stay all night?
Absolutely! We'll have lots of fun activities and entertainment for those who stay with us all night, and a special prize drawing in the morning for those who remain in attendance all 13 hours.
Do we camp overnight?
All or part of your team may to choose to camp out, or you may use your allocated camping space as a meeting place. You don't have to rough it. Mattresses, camp beds, lawn chairs and tents are all welcome.
Will food be available?
Absolutely! Details coming soon!
Will first aid be available?
Basic first aid will be available at the registration and survivor tents, and the local EMS services have been notified about our event.
Do I have to have a co-captain for my team?
No, team structure is completely up to each team captain to decide for him or herself. Many veteran captains do stress that a co-captain is very helpful, especially for a large team.
Can I add team members to my team after we have already registered?
Absolutely; you can add team members up until the day of relay. All registered team members will receive a t-shirt but we can only guarantee requested sizes for those registering prior to June 17.
If we need more supplies such as, collection envelopes or accounting forms, who do we get them from?
Call or e-mail Mary Ann Wedeman (Event Chairperson) or Melissa Lee (Staff Partner) tel: (518) 454-4074 cell: (518) 257-6088 fax: (518) 438-9608
What time can we set up our campsite for Relay?
Teams are welcome to begin arriving at 4:30 P.M.
If we are cooking at our campsite, are we allowed to build a small contained camp-fire?
No, absolutely not. more info forthcoming from the town
I have a friend/ coworker/ family member who is a cancer survivor but not on our Relay team. Is he/she still invited to attend the survivors lap and reception?
Yes, please invite him or her! We want all local cancer survivors to take part in the survivors' lap and reception. Please visit the survivorship page [link] and download a Survivor form so we can properly invite all survivors.
I know a cancer survivor that would like to attend the event but has difficulty walking. Do they have to walk the entire first lap?
There will be a few wheelchairs available for Survivors who have trouble walking. Please contact Melissa Lee, tel: (518) 454-4074 cell: (518) 257-6088 fax: (518) 438-9608, prior to the event so we can plan to have enough wheelchairs available on the day of the relay.
Who are checks made payable to?
Please make all checks payable to: American Cancer Society, Melissa A. Lee, Director of Special Events, Relay For Life, 260 Osborne Road Loudonville, NY 12211 tel: (518) 454-4074 cell: (518) 257-6088 fax: (518) 438-9608
